The Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has assured that people to be affected by the proposed new Dwarka-NH8 road will be awarded new plots in Gurgaon.

A HUDA official informed that the government has surveyed the affected areas and has primarily found that 150 families will be affected because of the land acquisition process.

However, Palam Vihar residents claim that the number of affected families is more than 400.

It may be noted that before the Commonwealth Games 2010, the government has to construct the 23 km road from Dwarka to Kherki Daula via New Palam Vihar.

Says HUDA Administrator, Shrikant Walgad, "We have started the land acquisition process for the 150 m meter broad road."

The 23-km road will connect Dwarka in Delhi to NH-8 near Kherki Dhaula. It will touch Dwarka, Palam Vihar, Gurgaon railway station, the new residential and commercial sectors in the pipeline, SEZ areas and Harsaru dry port and would also give direct connectivity to Manesar, the proposed development hub. According to the Master Plan 2021, this road will pass through new Sectors 111, 112, 113, 105, 108, 102, 102A, 104 and 101.

This link is also expected to ease traffic load on the two major link roads between Delhi and Gur- gaon, which includes MG Road and the Expressway.

Apart from this, a link between Nelson Mandela Road in Vasant Kunj and DLF Phase III has also been proposed. But no decision has been taken as yet about the ridge area lying in between.

The third link road on the anvil is from Gwal Pahadi to Andheria Morh. "The Delhi Development Authority has formally given its consent on the issue, but the project will be decided by the higher authorities," said Walgad.

All three link roads are proposed in the Gurgaon-Manesar Master Plan 2021.

The nine km long links between Vasant Kunj and DLF Phase III will provide connectivity from Vasant Vihar to DLF-III.

The traffic heading to Faridabad from Vasant Vihar will use it as a short cut.

The approximately 10 km road between Gwal Pahadi and Andheria Morh will meet with the Faridabad road near Jaunpura village. It will reduce the traffic volume on MG Road, as commuters heading for Faridabad would be diverted to this stretch.

Walgad said that the government would issue necessary notifications for land acquisition for the Dwarka-Gurgaon link road very soon.

"Providing this road link is on our priority list this year. It would cater to the demand of new residential sectors, commercial areas on the stretch and would provide direct connectivity with NH-8, heading towards Jaipur," he said. He further added that the road will help divert the traffic load from NH8.
